These terms apply to bookings and purchases from Playa Pilates. Please read them before booking or buying a class pack.
1. About Playa Pilates
Playa Pilates is operated by 3-102-061468 SOCIEDAD DE RESPONSABILIDAD LIMITADA (“Playa,” “we,” or “us”).
Studio address
Local #2, Edificio 47, Las Ramblas
Las Catalinas, Tempate, Guanacaste 50304
Costa Rica
For questions about bookings or purchases, contact hello@playapilates.cr.
2. Age and participation
Participants must be at least 16 years old. Participants aged 16 or 17 need parent or legal guardian consent before attending a group class or private appointment.
Before a participant’s first session, they must complete Playa’s participation acknowledgment. A parent or guardian must complete any required consent for a participant under 18. Booking or paying for another person does not replace that person’s consent requirements.
3. Booking and payment
Reservations are subject to availability and are confirmed when Dibs shows them as confirmed. A waitlist position is not a confirmed reservation.
The price, currency, applicable taxes, and payment options will be shown before checkout. A class pack or membership may be used only for the services covered by that purchase.
Clients can book group classes and private appointments through Playa’s online booking page. Clients do not need to download an app to book through the website.
4. Class pack validity
Unless a different validity period is shown at purchase, class credits are valid for:
- Single-class credit: 30 days
- Five-class pack: 60 days
- Ten-class pack: 90 days
Validity begins on the purchase date. For packs purchased before the studio opens, validity begins on the studio’s opening date.
A session must take place before the pack expires. Booking a session before the expiration date does not extend the pack’s validity.
5. Client cancellations and missed sessions
Clients may cancel through their online booking account. To have the value returned automatically, a client must cancel at least:
- 12 hours before a group class
- 24 hours before a private appointment
For an on-time cancellation:
- A class booked with a pack returns to that same pack and keeps the pack’s original expiration date.
- A booking paid for by card or account credit returns as account credit in the client’s Dibs account. Account credit does not expire.
- A booking covered by an unlimited membership does not create a separate credit.
A cancellation inside the applicable window is a late cancellation. The session is forfeited, as is a session missed without cancellation. Dibs explains the applicable result before the client confirms a cancellation.
Playa may grant an exception at its discretion, but late cancellations and missed sessions are not automatically credited, including when another client books the freed spot.
6. Waitlist
If a group class is full, clients may join its waitlist through the online booking page when the waitlist is available for that class.
Dibs reserves an eligible class from a client’s pack or the client’s payment method while they are on the waitlist. No payment is charged just for joining. If the client is added to the class, the pack class is used or the client is charged for the booking.
When a spot opens, Dibs may book the next eligible client automatically or send a time-limited offer by email and text. Follow the instructions and deadline in the offer. If it is not accepted in time, the spot may be offered to another client or opened for booking.
Once a waitlist booking is confirmed, the normal cancellation policy applies. A late cancellation or no-show forfeits the session.
7. Studio cancellations and changes
If Playa cancels a class or private appointment, the client is not charged a cancellation penalty and receives the booking’s value back automatically:
- A session from an active pack returns to that pack.
- If the pack has expired, the paid value of the session returns as account credit. Complimentary sessions from an expired pack have no paid value to return.
- A booking paid for by card or account credit returns as account credit.
Account credit does not expire. Refunds to the original card are not automatic; clients may contact Playa about a refund. Any applicable rights under Costa Rican law remain unaffected.
Playa will send cancellation notifications by email or text when available. For a repeating class series, clients booked into later dates may not receive an automatic notification if Playa cancels the current and all future sessions. Clients should check their booking account and contact Playa if they are unsure whether a future session is still taking place.
8. Grip socks, arrival, and safety
Grip socks are required for every reformer session, including private appointments. Bring your own or purchase a pair at the studio before your session.
Clients have a 10-minute grace period after the scheduled start time. Arriving more than 10 minutes late is treated as a no-show: the client may not join the session and forfeits the class credit or session payment.
If you arrive without grip socks and decline to purchase them, you cannot participate and will forfeit the class credit or session payment.
Follow the instructor’s safety directions and use equipment only as instructed. Do not participate while impaired by alcohol, drugs, or another substance that affects your ability to exercise safely. Playa may stop a session where reasonably necessary to protect a participant or others.
9. Health and exercise risks
Pilates involves physical exertion and equipment use and carries risks, including strains, falls, and other injuries.
Tell your instructor before a session about relevant injuries, pregnancy, medical conditions, or limitations that may affect safe participation. Notify the instructor if your circumstances change. Stop exercising and notify the instructor if you experience pain, dizziness, or feel unwell.
Playa provides fitness instruction, not medical diagnosis or treatment. A separate participation acknowledgment covers exercise risks and participant responsibilities.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
10. Personal information and photography
Playa uses booking contact details to provide service messages such as confirmations, reminders, schedule changes, and waitlist offers. Personal information is handled under applicable Costa Rican data-protection law and Playa’s privacy notice.
Acceptance of these terms is not consent to promotional emails or marketing use of a participant’s photograph, video, or likeness. Marketing consent, if requested, is separate and optional and does not affect the ability to book or attend.
11. Changes to these terms
The terms in effect when a purchase is made apply to that purchase. Later changes will not retroactively reduce a client’s purchased benefits or statutory rights. Updated terms will be posted on Playa’s website with their effective date.
12. Applicable law
These terms are governed by the laws of Costa Rica, without limiting any mandatory consumer protections or remedies available under applicable law.
